Before you sign up
What it won't do
Push to talk needs a signal.
The audio goes over the network, so where there is no coverage there is no radio — and what you say out there is not saved up to send later, it simply does not go. What the app does keep hold of is positions and the times somebody taps in at a checkpoint: those sit on the phone and push through the moment it is back in range.
It is not a safety system.
It is a way for a crew to hear each other, and that is all it is. Carry every bit of the gear you would have carried anyway, and plan the day as though the phone in your pocket is a brick.
The iOS app is in TestFlight, not the App Store.
It gets used on real events and it is not finished. Better to read that here than work it out at four in the morning.
